We survived the New Jersey coast

It's a long coast, open to the Atlantic ocean, but we had 2 calm days to do it. We also did our first trip at night !  Well.... partially. We left New York at sunset, since the winds were too strong in the afternoon, and we arrived 2 hours later, in the dark, at Great Kills Harbour.  We knew it was a good experience to have, and we had all the chances on our side (great full moon, GPS, Radar, and our good friends on Velissa waiting for us at the harbour). What a feeling to see the New York lights get brighter and brighter, even though it was a little stressful. The next day, we had a long day to reach Barnegat harbour, and the day after, another long day to reach Cap May, at the mouth of the Delaware Bay. Once again, we arrived there in the dark, since the days are getting shorter. Cap May is the sport fishing mecca of the east coast. Right now, stripped bass is in season, and they are catching lots of them (I keep craving fish for supper for some reason). Tomorrow, the winds should be light enough for us to go up the Delaware Bay, towards the C&D canal.

Nous avons survécu la longue cote du New Jersey. Elle est un peu stressante, car a notre droite, c'est l'océan Atlantique, alors nous avons été chanceux d'avoir eu 2 belles journée calmes pour le faire.  Nous avons aussi fait notre premiere expérience de nuit ! Ou presque... Nous avions quitté New York au coucher du soleil, car il ventait trop dans l'apres-midi, alors 2 heures plus tard, nous sommes arrivé a Great Kills Harbour dans la noirceur (par contre, nous avions a notre disposition le GPS, le radar, une belle pleine lune, et nos amis sur Velissa qui étaient déja la, a nous attendre). C'était ahurissant de voir les lumieres de New York au loin, meme si cette aventure était un peu stressante ! Le lendemain, nous avons eu une longue journée jusqu'a Barnegat, et la journée suivante, une autre longue journée pour rejoindre Cap May. Les pecheurs de sport sont tres nombreux ici, surtout que c'est la saison de l'achigan, alors ils en attrapent de belles tailles (ca me donne toujours le gout d'avoir du poisson pour souper !). Demain, on remonte la baie du Delaware, pour aller au canal C&D.  Esperons que les vents et les courants nous aident, nous en aurons besoin.
